Coastal Plant INtuitive Medicine workshop
with April Punsalan
Author of Foraging Wild Herbs: 30 Healing Plants of the Coastal Carolinas
“When Women Heal, the Earth Heals”
Join us for a 90‑minute immersive workshop with herbalist, educator, and ethnobotanist April Punsalan, whose life’s work is devoted to preserving and teaching the traditional plant medicine of the Carolinas. April brings more than 25 years of field experience as a botanist and a lifetime of intuitive connection to the natural world. Her teaching is rooted in remembrance — of lineage, of land, and of the wild medicine that has always been here.
In this interactive session, you’ll explore the coastal herbs that grow around us on the Outer Banks: the resilient, adaptive plants that thrive in salt, wind, and shifting sand. Through storytelling, sensory exploration, and intuitive practices, April will guide you to:
Identify local medicinal plants and understand their traditional uses
Learn how plants communicate through form, scent, and energetics
Explore simple ways to incorporate wild herbs into daily life
Reconnect with your own intuitive relationship to nature
Understand how healing ourselves and healing the land are intertwined
This workshop is for anyone who feels curious about the plants growing around us and wants a clearer, more grounded understanding of how to work with them. You don’t need any background in herbalism — just an interest in learning, connecting, and slowing down enough to notice what’s already here. You’ll leave with practical knowledge, a deeper sense of place, and a renewed appreciation for the coastal plants that support our everyday lives.
We’ll be sitting and standing on yoga mats throughout the session. Feel free to bring a cushion to sit on if you prefer extra support, or use one of our bolsters. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook and pen if you want to take notes. Come ready to listen, touch, smell, and learn from the plants that have been here long before us.
