May your body be blessed.
May you realize that your body is a faithful and beautiful
friend of your soul.
And may you be peaceful and joyful and recognize that your sense are sacred thresholds.
May you realize that holiness is mindful, gazing, feeling,
hearing, and touching.
May your senses gather you and bring you home.
May your senses always enable you to celebrate the universe
and the mystery and possibilities in your presence here.
May the Eros of the Earth bless you.

The lesson which life repeats and constantly enforces is, “Look underfoot.” You are always nearer the divine and the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars; every place is the centre of the world. Stand in your own door and you have eight thousand miles of solid ground beneath you, and all the sidereal splendors overhead.
~ John Borroughs in "The Divine Soul," April, 1908.
And in the end
The Love you take

No mirror ever became iron again;
No bread ever became wheat;
No ripened grape ever became sour fruit.
Mature yourself and be secure from a change for the worse.
Become the light.
~ Mevlana Rumi, 13th century sufi poet and mystic
Survival. When a plant thinks it might die, it bursts into bloom. It uses up most or all of its remaining energy to produce flowers, which will in turn produce seeds. I understand that this is a side effect of what it’s actually trying to accomplish—the survival of its species—but I love that the floral response to stress creates beauty. Can you do the same? Try it. The more stressed out you get, the harder you should try to generate some original beauty to share with the world. I reckon that will make you feel a whole lot better: Even if it doesn’t, it sure will make life nicer for the rest of us, and that can’t be a bad thing.
~ From the NY Press - September 19, 2007

Some day, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity,...we shall harness the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, (we) will have discovered fire.

There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open...whether you choose to take an art class, keep a journal, record your dreams, dance your life story or live each day from your own creative source. Above all else, keep the channel open!
~ Martha Graham
